WHAT ARE YOUR FITNESS GOALS?
PT fitness, nutrition + health
My sole aim is to help you to realise your fitness goal. Whatever that goal maybe - Weight-loss, Strength Training, Sports Performance, Postural Correction, Injury Rehab - I will devise a progressive exercise plan to enable you to Achieve your goal, to Maintain your condition and to give you the Confidence to continually improve and enable a positive mind-set. I'm here to enable you to create a positive gym persona.
Through my experience as an athlete I have relied upon three core disciplines to nurture success. Nutrition, Strength Conditioning and Cardiovascular Health.
Nutrition is inextricably linked to your health and fitness goal. At A-PT fitness we can enable you to take control of your diet and give you the tools and resources to help you keep track of your calorie in-take and give you an understanding of how to split macros with the correct amount of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
A-PT fitness believe in a balanced diet and encourage you to eat a wide variety fruit and vegetables. Whilst commencing a weight loss diet it is important to understand that you will require an energy deficit. In short, you will be required to consume fewer calories than you expend. The amount of calories of food consumed (calories in) needs to be lower than the amount expended (calories out). No matter how much you exercise and move you must consume fewer calories to lose weight and it is very difficult to 'out-train' a bad diet. At A-PT we will be able to give you guidance of exactly how many calories you require per day to meet your goal. I will assess your 'Basal Metabolic Rate' (BMR). This is the amount of calories your body requires to maintain basic function whilst at rest. I will also assess your 'Thermic Effect of Food' (TEF). This is the amount of energy the body expends through ingestion, digestion, absorption, utilisation and storage of food. TEF accounts for 6-10% of daily energy expenditure for men and 6-7% for women (Poehlman, 1989). Finally, I will assess the 'Thermic Effect of Activity' (TEA). TEA is the amount of energy expended for movement. The more you move the more energy you will expend. In summary, you will be allocated a daily calorie allowance and within that a percentage of proteins, fats and carbohydrate to adhere. You will learn how to measure your intake and keep track of your daily allowance of calories and macro nutrients using apps or if required I can signpost you to a nutritionist if you have more specific nutrition goals such as allergies, pregnancy, diabetes or other factors.
